MAKING ROOM FOR THE NEW WOODY

This print is the result of a commission from Mike DeVrient, former owner of So-Cal Speed Shop of Colorado. We photographed the vehicles in a parking lot and then I created the scene from other reference material I’d shot in other locations. Mike has the original bill of sale for the largely unrestored, low mileage ‘39 showing that it was sold new at Florence Garage in Wallkill NY. With that in mind I put Wallkill Garage on the door of the’37 tow truck and on Mike’s shirt to create the impression that he has just delivered the ’39 to it’s new owner while he hauls off the “trade-in 1932 Woody. The tow truck is an unrestored wrecker in working condition.
