As I look back on my life journey, I realize
that my vision and passion for keeping the next generation in
the Faith began with my own children. My husband Dave and I could
not imagine eternity without our three children. We recognized
the privilege and responsibility God had entrusted to us to lead
our children to Him, and as we tried to find fun and creative
ways to teach our children about God’s amazing plan for eternal
life, the foundational ingredients of the ministry I’m now involved
in began to take shape.

GOD'S DESIGN FOR SPIRITUAL FORMATION
I have been reading a book by Catherine Stonehouse, Joining Children
on the Spiritual Journey. She stresses that the foundation for
passing faith in God to our children is contained in this chapter
in Deuteronomy. There are three principles here that God is teaching
us through Moses. First of all, we must believe in the one in
the One True God who created the universe, who is sovereign over
everything, and who gave us principles for life.

April 20th was a very significant
day in the history of our ministry to the Church of the Next
Generation! A group of likeminded, passionate people met at Group
Publishing in Loveland, CO, to discuss the need for a task force
to be formed in the Rocky Mountain District to address the roles
of the church and the home in keeping the next generation in Faith.
I remember what Bruce Redmond, former Church Planting Director
in the RMD, told me in response to my initial desire to have a
regional team working with me. He said, “Julie, it will take you
about 3 years to develop a regional team that will multiply your
ministry.” He was right—it will be three years in September! I
am amazed at and grateful for these people who want to join me
throughout to district to multiply my efforts! We unanimously
agreed that the task force was needed, and we spent most of our
time bonding as a team and developing our mission statement.

A PRAYER FOR ALL THOSE WHO SEEK
TO LEAD CHILDREN
I am indebted to my niece and her husband for finding this prayer
written by Amy Carmichael, the missionary and gifted writer, who
rescued 'temple children' in India over one hundred years ago.
It is a beautiful prayer that I think expresses our honest fears
as parents, grandparents, pastors and children's directors/volunteers...
